Deep tissue massage focuses on stretching fascia, a three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds, supports and penetrates all of the muscles, bones, nerves and organs. Deep tissue massage works layer by layer through connective tissue and muscles down to the deepest accessible layers to change posture and create freedom of movement. Techniques are preformed using forearms and elbows which enables pressure to reach about five times deeper into the muscle.
Deep tissue massage is excellent for tight backs, sore legs from standing, running or hiking.
Deep tissue massage can leave the client feeling very tired due to the deep work so it is best to plan your massage at a suitable time.
Swedish Massage is a classical massage - that can be light and gentle, or deep and invigorating. During Swedish Massage the therapist and client work together to improve health, gait and general well-being. Muscles in spasm can cause a lot of pain, discomfort and postural imbalances. The Swedish Massage therapist can treat this by searching out the knots and tightness and applying varying pressure with the hands, forearm and elbow to gradually reduce the pull and tension in the muscles.
The massage is nurturing, sensuous, and can help energise, balance and restore a sense of well-being.
It is especially beneficial for people who spend a lot of time sitting at a desk, and also children.
